Wonderful Week 7 Moments

With Fathers Day approaching on Sunday, we wanted to celebrate all of the wonderful parents in our lives. We hope that you enjoy the special cards, gifts and family time over the weekend.

In Ahuriri, we have been growing our brains by learning about "teen numbers." We know that all teen numbers start with a 1 - which represents ten. Then we need to add on the extra ones. We were able to work with a buddy to write and make teen numbers. Look at all of the different equipment we used.

We have continued to explore Healthy Eating by using our knowledge of food groups and balanced diets to create our own Healthy Lunchboxes. We wrote stories that we are so proud of! You might notice that we tried to include interesting adjectives to describe the foods that we included.

Keeping the Food Balance!

This week we had a bit of a hullabaloo as we all moved T group spaces!  After a week of walking in the wrong direction we are all so happy now in our new areas.  It's nice to have a change!

Buddies - each class in the school is paired up with another Tgroup and each child is assigned to a buddy.  We meet regularly, once a fortnight and the children love this time with their buddy.  We do all sorts of activities together, like dancing, creating, reading and crafting.

Well-being is paramount to the happiness of the Ahuriri children and we have been teaching the children about regulating their moods and feeling.  This is our Zones of Regulation wall, where we try to stay in the green zone.

We do maths every day, though it often doesn't feel like maths!  We solved problems, practised skip counting and learnt about fractions.

Ahuriri are enjoying looking into foods!  We have studied which foods are good for us, which foods we should eat more of and which foods are for treats.  We have looked into the food pyramids and getting ready for our assembly.
